HISTORY

In 2009 12 swimmers swam the Amstel Swim without a permit as a qualification of the KNSM island Round 2009. In 2010 we did apply for a permit. The Amstel Swim has now grown out to be a large Clean Water event.

The picture below was taken in the July 24, 1926 (source: Cityarchive Amsterdam) and shows that swimming in the Amstel was done in the past as well.
