Enrol in the Amstel Swim 2010 now!

Everyone (max. 100 participants older then 12 years of age) can join in and it will be awesome. On the 5th of September 2010 at 10:30 we will swim from Kaap Kot (Omval) in Amsterdam to Amsterdam’s city hall.

This route over the Amstel will take us from the 21st century back to the 17th century via
historical bridges and beautiful buildings which have just been listed as UNESCO World Heritage.

Isn’t this wonderful. This is only possible in the Netherlands.

The Amstel Swim will be historical. Forget about Cassius Clay’s golden medail at the Olympics in Rome (September 5 1960), forget about Jingyi Le’s world record in the 100 me freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Rome (September 5 1994).
From September 5 2010 we will only remember the swimmers Micheal Lieuw, Ans Meijwaard, Klaas Zijlstra, Marije Dirkx and YOU crossing the finishline simultaniously during the Amstel Swim 2010 in the city center of Amsterdam.

Caution! The Amstel Swim is not a race. All participants remain in a duck-class configuration of max. 10 x 250 meters from start to finish. The Amstel Swim costs €25,- to cover the extensive security measures which is almost similar to Rondje Noordereiland (3 km) in Rotterdam and Rondje KNSM Eiland (5 km) in Amsterdam. Lifeguards Amsterdam, Canoe/Kayaks KV Zeeburg and Rescue Divers Lazy Wave will guard your safety and that of the spectators. DECLARATION: By submitting this form I declare that I have filled out the above information truthfully. I am healthy and physically fit enough to swim the Amstel Swim (3 km) at a speed of 2 km/h. Nonetheless, I declare to know the risk of open water swimming, such as illness, disability and in worst case even death. This is a requirement to take part in the Amstel Swim and/or related activities. Furthermore, by sending this I free the Aquarius foundation, it’s volunteers, employees, directors, sponsors, the City of Amsterdam, the province of Noord Holland and / or any legal and / or individuals associated with the Amstel Swim for any damage or loss arising from any of these activities.

De Amstel Swim is een nationaal zwemfestijn dat sinds 2010 elk jaar in Amsterdam
wordt gezwommen. Het hoogtepunt van dit evenement is de 3 km vrije slag
van Oude Oudekerkerdijk naar het Stadhuis.
