Dear potential sponsor,

As a sponsor of the Amstel Swim you will increase Clean Water awareness with us. We have been doing this as a foundation since 2008 at home and abroad with various clean water events such as the Noordereiland round in Rotterdam, the KNSM island round in Amsterdam and the mermaidparade in the Hague.

These clean water events are growing every year by an increasing amount of participants and spectators from home and abroad. By various media millions or readers, listeners and viewers are reached.

Due to the gold medal if Maarten van der Weijden at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing the popularity of open water swimming is rapidly increasing. Cleaner water and low cost are contributing to this increase.

This year about 100 participants will swim the Amstel Swim. Hereby the Amstel Swim will bypass the KNSM Island round and the Noordereiland round in terms of numbers of participants.

This is not so surprising though. The Amstel Swim is only 3 km long and the route is fantastic! On Sunday, September 5 we swim from Kaap Kot (Omval) in Amsterdam to the City Hall of Amsterdam. The route will take us from the 21st century back to the 17th century via historical bridges and buildings. Moreover this is truly unique as we are swimming through UNESCO World Heritage!

The Amstel Swim will be historical. Forget about Cassius Clay’s golden medail at the Olympics in Rome (September 5 1960), forget about Jingyi Le’s world record in the 100 me freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Rome (September 5 1994). From September 5, 2010 we will only remember the swimmers Micheal Lieuw, Ans Meijwaard, Klaas Zijlstra, Marije Dirkx and you crossing the finishline simultaniously during the Amstel Swim 2010 in the center of Amsterdam.

We want to promote Amsterdam and it’s harbor and channels by means of the Amstel Swim and the KNSM island round both on a nationanal level and on an internation level. This will not only be beneficial to the social structures, economy and health in the area but it will also contribute to Amsterdam’s ambitions of hosting the 2028 Olympics in the Netherlands. We are in desparate need of your support here!

Please contact us if you also want a clean, healty and sporty image.

P.s.1:participants with a handicap are more then welcome to join
P.s.2: THE AMSTEL SWIM IS NOT A RACE! All participants will stay together from start to finish in a duckclass formation of max. 10 x 250m.Furthermore, just like during the Noordereiland Round (3km) in Rotterdam and the KNSM Island Round (5km) there will be extensive safety measures. The Amsterdam Lifeguards, Canoes / Kayaks of KV Zeeburg and Rescue Divers Lazy Wave watch over the swimmer’s and spectator’s safety.
